An exciting opportunity for an inspirational individual to lead the SMILE Project at the ARCOS Therapy Centre.

SMILE (Sensation and Movement Interaction for Life Experience) is an ARCOS initiative, supported by BBC Children in Need, providing one-one and group play/therapy sessions for children and young adults.

The successful candidate will have a track record of providing services to children with disabilities and their families. They will understand the importance of relationships and ability to empower children and young adults. This post requires passion, determination and vision to continue the development of a project that is changing lives. Alongside working directly with children, young adults and their families the project leader will be responsible for:

  • Setting up SMILE Projects in liaison with Therapy staff
  • Managing administrative duties include meeting families and representatives of relevant agencies
  • Liaising with colleagues in the confirmation of session bookings
  • Writing sessional reports and development plans
  • Providing project reports

And they will receive:

  • Support and training from the ARCOS therapists.
  • Statutory training in safeguarding, first aid and food hygiene
  • Support in using specialist computer software and programmes including Symwriter and Eyegaze

Speech and Language Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a forward thinking charity and make a real difference to the lives of children and adults.  You will need to be self-motivated with good organisational skills, able to work “hands on” and liaise with colleagues in statutory and other agencies.  You will be required to carry out assessment, therapy and training and expected to work within interdisciplinary teams. You should have experience of working with individuals with neurological and/or neuro-divergent conditions.
