This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational individual to join our Alternative Provision team at the ARCOS Therapy Centre.

Our Alternative Provision offers tailored education and support for children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to their complex needs. We provide a nurturing, therapeutic learning environment that enables students to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The successful candidate will have a track record of supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities in an educational setting. They will understand the importance of relationships and the ability to empower children and young people to achieve their potential. This post requires passion, determination and commitment to making a difference to the lives of vulnerable learners.

Alongside working directly with students, the Learning Support Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting teaching staff in the delivery of individualised learning programmes
  • Independently run intervention programs with the supervision of teaching staff
  • Assisting with creating a positive learning environment
  • Supporting students with personal care needs as required
  • Helping to prepare learning resources and materials
  • Contributing to the monitoring and recording of student progress
  • Assisting with administrative duties including attendance records and communication with families

And they will receive:

  • Support and training from ARCOS therapists and teaching staff
  • Statutory training in safeguarding, and food hygiene
  • Training in positive behaviour support and therapeutic approaches
  • Support in using specialist educational software and assistive technology including SymWriter

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

This role is offered on a self-employed basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions.
