The SMILE
(Social Skills Mentoring through Inclusive Learning Experiences) Project supports neurodivergent and SEN children and young people to develop vital social and communication skills in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
We offer a range of services designed to help children thrive, supported by our wider team, including a speech and language therapist, an occupational therapist and a qualified teacher.
Social Groups & Board Game Clubs
Our facilitated groups provide safe, structured spaces where children can practice social interaction, turn-taking, and communication through play. Board games offer a fun, natural way to build friendships and develop essential social skills.
Holiday Clubs
During school breaks, we run engaging holiday programmes that keep children active, social, and learning while giving families valuable respite and support.
Parent & Carer Support
We understand that parenting neurodivergent children comes with unique challenges. Our parent and carer support services provide guidance, resources, and a community of understanding families.
AP & EOTAS
We offer specialised educational support and therapeutic interventions tailored to each child’s needs, helping them develop communication skills, confidence, and independence.
Almost all of the children and young people attending SMILE experience difficulties in communication and social interaction, whether they communicate through verbal language or by other means. Through our structured activities and expert support, we create meaningful opportunities for children to initiate and engage in communication at their own pace.
At SMILE, we believe every child deserves to feel understood, included, and supported. And at the end of each session, the children (and the adults) are left with a big smile!
