How we help

We help our clients improve their ability to communicate, their physical conditions and mental health, so that they can be as independent as possible.

Our specialist team of therapists and staff enable people to benefit from the latest advances in knowledge, understanding, skills and technology.

We work in collaboration with the NHS, other organisations and GPs, providing comprehensive, ‘joined-up’ therapy and support to clients, their families and carers.

We work as a team...

We work as a team with clients, carers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers to improve every person’s life.  For some, this will mean big improvements, for others, small gains over a long time.

Clients have often been told that there is nothing, or nothing more, that can be done for them.

We ‘never say never’ and in 28 years, we have found that there is always something that can be done to make life more comfortable and even fun!

Clients

‘For the past four months, we have felt isolated in every possible way – no medical oversite, no therapy support, struggling to feed our mother because we are vegan and she can’t swallow, no contact with our community… Kay and her team have been a light in a dark time.’

‘I have learned more in one morning than I have in a long time. Everything I learned will have a very positive effect on the people I care for’

Carers

‘It was such a surprise, after all these years to see her able to change like that, swallowing without choking and holding the spoon a bit.

I came along to the training sessions because I didn’t want to be rude, I didn’t expect it to make any difference.’

Volunteers

‘Our eldest son had a rocky start as a baby…ARCOS has helped him at home, at school and in treatment sessions. I wanted to raise awareness of their work and the training they provide for relatives, carers and teachers, as well as wanting to raise cash to help.’

Children

On the days he is going to SMILE he is rushing me out of the door in excitement …their support with my son’s difficulties has helped both of us. The advice, tools and knowledge I have received have allowed me…to make my son’s experience of the world easier for him’
