AAC OPEN DAY AT ARCOS
Monday 26 October 09 10.30am - 4pm
ARCOS is proud to announce an AAC Open Day to highlight AAC solutions from companies such as PRI Liberator and Malvern-based Smartbox AT and Sensory Software.
AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication, communication for those with impairments or restrictions on the production or comprehension of spoken or written language. AAC communication aids are speech generating devices and technical aids for people with who have little or no verbal communication. They greatly range in size, shape and function, and can be programmed and designed for a variety of specific and sometimes unique needs of users.
Liberator Prentke Romich Communication aids devices can run three types of language representation: text-based programmes, page-based systems, and Minspeak systems. Smartbox's range of computer-based communication aids run the versatile The Grid 2 software, which can also be installed on any Windows-based PC. The Grid 2 is an all-in-one package for communication and access, enabling people with limited or unclear speech to use a computer as a voice output communication aid, using symbols or text to build sentences.
